Description of the request:
For precise documentation - especially in civil engineering or cable construction - users would like to be able to store pins directly on map material from QGIS. Ideally, this should be done in combination with an external GPS tracker (e.g. Leica device) to record the exact position.
Example scenario:
A technician documents the laying of fiber optic cables. He uses a Leica GPS device to record the exact position of an installation point. This is saved as a pin on a map in docu tools - based on QGIS data. This means that even years later, it is possible to pinpoint exactly where digging is required without the need for time-consuming research or plan evaluations.
Expected functionalities:
Support for map import or connection via QGIS
Locating pins with exact GPS data (if necessary via live connection to Leica or other devices)
Storage of coordinates as part of the pin metadata
Optional visualization of GPS pins on layers or map views
Added value:
Maximum accuracy in the documentation of construction progress or installations
High practical benefit for civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities, energy, telecommunications
Optimized traceability over the entire life cycle of a project
Reduction of excavation errors and unnecessary maintenance or repair costs
