Use datasets more flexibly: sorting, categories, app availability, and direct creation

In our daily work with datasets, we see several starting points for making their use more structured, efficient, and consistent across platforms:

1. Make content within datasets sortable

Currently, entries within a dataset cannot be sorted in a targeted manner.
Individual sorting (e.g., manually or alphabetically) would help to structure content logically and make it more usable for specific projects—especially in the case of extensive value lists.

Use case:
Predefined selection values (e.g., trades, components, defect types) should appear in a technically meaningful order.

2. Assign pin categories to datasets

Similar to fields, it should also be possible to assign datasets to specific pin categories. This would allow only those contents to be displayed that are relevant to the respective category.

Added value:

  • Clearer structure

  • Fewer selection errors

  • Faster data entry for users

3. Display and edit datasets in the app

Currently, datasets are not displayed in the app, and uploads or changes are not possible on mobile devices. Cross-platform availability would increase consistency and avoid media breaks.

Use case:
Project participants want to add or update values directly on the construction site without having to go through the web application.

4. Create datasets directly in docu tools

Currently, new datasets must be imported. The ability to create them directly within docu tools would significantly simplify setup and reduce administrative effort.

Added value:

  • Faster project setup

  • More flexibility for short-term adjustments

  • Lower barrier to entry for new users
